Hummingbird Visit
The hummingbird started visting our flowers in early June. A couple weeks ago the feeder was discovered. I am hoping to get more to the feeder by trimming away some braches blocking its view.

@driewe I’m in Ohio, right along the lakeshore. I have been feeding Hummers for like three years now and the first two years we had them all Summer long. This year they have been sporadic and I rarely see them. I saw one the other day in the evening but nothing since. I change the sugar water every few days and have had the feeder in the same spot for all three years. I have flowers around also so maybe they just aren’t in the area as much as they used to be. We only get the Ruby Throated here.
@my35Xvision – Thank you. We did our weekly cleaning and refilling today and the hummingbird sat down and took 6 long drings before flying off. Then some other birds with a sweet tooth showed up. I caught some of it on video and will share it soon.
@MoviesMusicNature – Which part of the country are you in? In Texas we get them from June through October. We keep lots of flowers they like and change the feeder out weekly. Right now I need to trim back some of the branches so they can spot it better. The pattern I see is they first are drawn to the flowers then find the feeder. One thing we cannot control is the use of pestacides by other people. Hopefully that isn’t what is causing the decrease you are seeing
Very nice video. I like the hummingbird sitting at the feeder. They usually do it on a fly. I like it.
Nice capture… I love hummingbirds, their little sounds they make and the way their wings sound as they fly on by. For some reason though I haven’t gotten as many this year as in years past..
